Last weekend, I went on a weekend getaway with my boyfriend and his family. It was SO nice to go away especially since covid hit. I also have been super busy with work so it couldn’t of been at a better time! I love going to Deep Creek because it is always so fun and it is not too far from where I live. It really makes for a great weekend getaway! I actually grew up going here every summer so it is always nice to go in the fall when the leaves are changing.
I have been going to Deep Creek since I was a little kid so I have stayed at many different places. For this trip, my boyfriend’s family picked the house so I can not remember exactly what it was called but it was about a 10 minute drive past Uno’s. At the light with McDonald’s on your right, you turn left and it was on that road. One nice thing about our neighborhood was the privacy and the many activities that you could do from riding bikes to walking to the docks to playing golf.
FRIDAY: Whenever we first got to the little town, we stopped at one of my favorite stores Bear Creek Traders to kill time since our house wasn’t ready. I love stopping and checking it out every time I visit because they have the best sterling silver rings for a really good price! I ended up buying two this time, one with a turquoise stone and one thick silver band. Since the grocery store was next door and the house still wasn’t ready, we went and picked up some groceries. Then once we finished grocery shopping, the house was ready so we were able to get in and unpack. After everyone else arrived and did their thing, we ordered a few pizzas from Brenda’s Pizzeria and a chicken salad for me from Uno’s. After eating dinner, we just relaxed by the fire and played a few games. I really loved the backyard of the house along with the fire pit!
SATURDAY: In the morning, we woke up and went to get everyone donuts from Deep Creek Donuts. I highly recommend the maple, it was SO good! Once we finished up, we went for a little bike ride and then walked down to see the lake. Luckily, it was beautiful outside so we had the perfect weather! Later on in the afternoon, we went to Dutch’s At Silver Tree Restaurant for lunch. They have the best crab cakes ever!!! I always go here every time I am in town. Highly recommend! I wish they had their buffet open but with covid, it was all shut down. After lunch, we went back to the house and relaxed. Later in the evening, we went and hit some golf balls on the course near our house. That was one nice thing about the neighborhood that we were in. I ended up coming back to the house and taking a nap after hitting golf balls. For some reason, I was so tired lol! Once I woke up, my boyfriend made me some dinner and then we sat and relaxed by the fire. Our fire pit was awesome and even though it was a little cold it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be at night.
SUNDAY: In the morning, I just relaxed around the house and then packed everything up. I left around 11 so I could be home in the afternoon. All in all it was such a nice trip and couldn’t of happened at a better time. Covid has really put a wrench in things so it is always nice to getaway even if it was for a weekend!
