Last week, my boyfriend and I wanted to go to a new restaurant to celebrate my graduation. I always enjoy going to a new place in town but the one he had in mind didn’t have any reservations so we decided to go to Luma in Mt.Lebanon. I was kind of shocked how small the inside was but sometimes that is nice for a more intimate dinner. Since it is a little on the fancy side, right away our waiter came over with water in which they walked around and filled up once we got low. To start off they gave us freshly baked bread with oil. This bread was unlike any bread that I have ever tasted. It was SO dang good! We also both ordered a glass of riesling which paired well it. They had a decently sized menu but we happened to go during restaurant week so they had a special menu where you can get an appetizer, entree, and dessert for less than $40. My boyfriend ended up going with that option and I went with their crab cakes with wild rice and sauteed broccoli. For his appetizer he ordered zucchini roulade filled with prosciutto, .basil & fresh mozzarella with a tomato cream sauce. For his entree, he ordered braised short rib over romano mashed potatoes topped with a cabernet demi-glace. Lastly, for dessert he picked the warmed chocolate chip brownie topped with dark chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.
I heard from multiple people that they are known for their crab cakes and I can attest to that because they were amazing! So if you end up stopping here, definitely try their bread and crap cakes!
